The challenges facing the growth of renewable energies

Energy supply has been increasing remarkably since the holding of the first cop in 1995. Even though the potential of clean energy exists in many parts of the world, demand for energy remains higher than what is currently offered by renewables.
In India, for instance, solar projects provide only 12 % of the country’s needed electricity.
The war in Ukraine boosted Europe’s will to decrease the use of fossils by issuing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). However, without speeding up transition from fossils along with using technological innovation, the policy may fail to meet Europe’s expectations.
Moreover, the energy transition requires reducing emissions globally and not those of one or two countries, and investing in new technologies remains key to fostering renewables.
