The BRICS in the African continent: merging resources with Chinese technology.

During an interview with AL24, energy expert and CEO of Ranadrill Consulting Mr. Choeib Boutamine says that many African countries want to join the BRICS to have their share of technology from the bloc’s founders and allow investments in minerals in exchange, especially that energy transition is one of the main world’s future targets, and Africa has the required minerals to produce renewable energies.
Western countries used their technology to extract minerals from African countries with cheap prices, but didn’t contribute to technological advanceon the continent. Thus, Africa is aspiring now for win-win partnerships to boost its economy.
Mr. Choeib Boutamine adds that if countries like Saudi Arabia and Algeria join the Brics, they will be key members, as one is the biggest exporter of oil in the world, and the other is the biggest natural gas producer and exporter in Africa.
