Mr. Choeib Boutamine

Speaking to Gulf Intelligence, Choeib Boutamine, energy advisor and CEO of Ranadrill Consulting, comments on the International Energy Agency’s annual report, stating that global demand for oil and gas will continue to grow until 2050:
Oil and gas are still needed, and even coal, as about 80% of global energy relies on fossil fuels. They remain essential for electricity, fertilizers, and the global economy, unlike renewables, which produce only electricity.
Renewables can be added to the energy mix without excluding fossil fuels. Oil will still be needed for decades, but investment in it has declined due to the focus on renewables and a lack of financing.
OPEC+ has been unwinding from 134,000 to 137,000 barrels per day between April and December. With low demand, unwinding should stop, and resuming should take place in June or July, not sooner.
